When we here at the Alzheimer’s Research Association were doing our homework for this section of our website we originally planned to research and write a whole section on being a great Caregiver, when we came across this video presentation. We found that we did not need to reinvent the wheel, because The Maine Public Broadcasting Network” put together everything that we intended to do, and did it with a great deal of care and thought, and professionalism. We here at the Alzheimer’s Research Association would like to thank the producers for letting us share this vital information with you.
While the Documentary series that the Maine Public Broadcasting Network put together and the numbers they cite in the series pertains to the state of Maine, you can easily see how the numbers translate into the national average. The three different videos cover’s a couple of different aspects of the Caregiving process.
In video # 1 the basis is to give you a general idea of what a Caregiver is and what they do. If you watch this video and see yourself as one of the characters, you will understand the Caregiving process a little bit better.
In video # 2 you will be right there in the front row of a seminar given to the different law and enforcement agencies, educating them on how to deal with an Alzheimer’s patient. The subject matter that this video deals with certainly pertains to anyone who comes into contact with an Alzheimer’s patient. It is vital information that everyone needs to know about people with Alzheimer’s disease.
In video # 3 the information is about taking care of the Caregiver, yourself in this case. It will give some ideas on how you need to keep yourself in shape and the need for you to be in your best frame of mind. You can’t be the best Caregiver you can be without taking the time to take care of yourself.
